San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail

In order to promote responsible use of the San Francisco Bay while protecting the health of one of our most valuable natural resources, the San Francisco Bay Water Regional Program was developed, approved by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005.

This act mandated that the State Coastal Conservancy and ABAG establish and coordinate a collaborative partnership with other interested parties in the development of the The Bay Water Trail.

The program now includes the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission, the State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways and an advisory committee representing a broad range of interests and expertise.
