BayREN - Bay Area Regional Energy Network
BayREN offers region-wide energy programs, services and resources to members of the public by promoting energy efficient buildings, reducing carbon emissions and building government capacity.
Get the complete details about BayREN when you visit the website.
BayREN is a significant project in our ABAG portfolio of services; we help single family residents, property owners and businesses get technical assistance and financial resources to find the best approach in reducing energy costs. We also assist local governments in evaluating and improving compliance with state energy code.
BayREN is a collaboration of the nine Bay Area counties and is successful in large part due to the expertise, knowledge and proven track record of local-government ABAG members.
Connecting to Communities
BayREN provides energy conservation solutions for residents—solutions that better connect to local communities than what is typically possible from a large utility. In addition, BayREN provides services across jurisdictions that city-only programs cannot achieve.

BayREN Funding
BayREN is funded by California utility ratepayers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), as well as through grants and funding from member agencies, other state and federal agencies, and foundations.
BayREN Governance
Governance is through the “Coordinating Circle,” which includes representation from ABAG and all nine Bay Area counties.
