Mobility hubs, parking management and transportation projects generally can benefit from data collection and digital policies. Learn how to incorporate these data collection techniques and digital tools into the planning, operations and maintenance of your projects.
Intro to Public Life Protocol
Public Life Protocol Workshop Description
Public Life Protocol Workshop April 24, 2025
The Public Life Survey Tools enable data collection on metrics that are important to the understanding of public life — people moving and staying in public spaces. This methodology has been modified from the Gehl Public Life Protocol. Measuring aspects of public life can help to better understand how people are already using a space and what changes might improve public benefit. We also measure public life to better understand the impact of our projects, which might include design interventions and programming. The training provides guidance on how to use three Public Life Tools to measure desired outcomes and impact of mobility hub projects:
- Stationary Activity Mapping
- People Moving Count
- Twelve Quality Criteria

Intro to Mobility Data Specification (MDS)
Mobility Data Specification (MDS) Workshop Description
Mobility Data Specification (MDS) Workshop May 8, 2025
MDS is an open data standard that helps cities manage shared mobility services, such as scooters, bikes, carshare and taxis, by providing real-time and historical data on vehicle activity. By using MDS, agencies can improve data collection and monitoring, optimize curb space, and ensure that shared mobility services align with public policy goals, including safety, accessibility and sustainability.
In this workshop, learn:
- Learn how you can use this tool to manage and measure performance of mobility services operating in and around your jurisdiction’s mobility hubs and parking projects.
- Build understanding around MDS.
- Learn how you can apply digital policy and best practices, case studies, and implementation strategies for using MDS to enhance mobility management.

Intro to Curb Data Specification (CDS)
Intro to Curb Data Specification (CDS) Workshop Description
Curb Data Specification (CDS) Workshop May 29, 2025
CDS is currently being applied in city curb management efforts. By implementing CDS, jurisdictions can improve curbside operations, enhance enforcement and ensure that space is allocated effectively for all users, including transit, delivery services and shared mobility.
CDS is an open data standard that helps cities digitally map, manage and regulate curb space, enabling more efficient use of loading zones, parking and transit stops.
In this workshop:
- Learn how you can employ CDS to support your jurisdiction’s mobility hubs and parking projects.
- Build understanding around CDS and best practices, case studies and strategies for leveraging CDS to improve curb management.
