Objective Design Standards Resources for Single-Family Residential Zones

The objective design standards for urban lot splits and small subdivisions set forth clear, measurable, and uniformly applicable regulations for the design, placement, and development of multi-unit projects and residential mixed-use projects, where permitted, in single-family zones. These resources help implement several State streamlining bills: SB 9 and SB 450, which enable up to four housing units in the lot area typically used for one single-family home; and SB 684 and SB 1123, which streamline approval of small subdivisions of 10 or fewer units, plus accessory dwelling units.

Resources include:

  • Sample deed restrictions and sample affidavits to ensure compliance with SB 9 and SB 450 regulations
  • Coming soon: The Objective Design and Development Standards for Urban Lot Splits and Small Subdivisions toolkit - including editable PDF, InDesign files, and image files.
