Plan Bay Area Open Houses for the Draft Plan Bay Area 2040

The Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) recently released the Draft Plan Bay Area 2040. Open houses are scheduled in each of the nine Bay Area counties for comment on the draft Plan Bay Area 2040. Residents are encouraged to attend a workshop where they can view displays, ask questions and offer comments on these documents. The draft Plan Bay Area 2040 is an updated long-range Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. This document discusses how the Bay Area will grow over the next two decades and identifies transportation and land-use strategies to enable a more sustainable, equitable and economically vibrant future.

The effort grew out of the California Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act of 2008 (California Senate Bill 375, Steinberg), which requires each of the state's 18 metropolitan areas - including the Bay Area - to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from cars and light trucks.
