The Great California Shakeout is Thursday and gives people a chance to get prepared for the Bay Area's next big earthquake.

There’s a 72 percent probability a magnitude 6.7 or larger earthquake will strike the San Francisco Bay Area over the next 30 years, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Bay Area just noted the magnitude-6.9 Loma Prieta quake that struck the Bay Area on Oct. 17, 1989.

Officials said they want people to be ready for the next big temblor. ABAG has an earthquake guide and resiliency page that are worth checking out.
