Bay Area Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Ordinance Webinar on October 23rd --

Local government staff are invited to join the Bay Area Model Solar Ordinance webinar for an in-depth review and discussion on the Cost Effectiveness Study in the solar toolkit, on Monday, October 23rd, from 2 pm - 3:30 pm. Participants will learn how to meet renewable energy and climate action plan goals through the adoption of a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) ordinance and explore the process of adopting rooftop solar PV ordinances on new residential and low-rise multifamily construction. This is the first in a series of bi-monthly work sessions hosted by the Bay Area Solar PV Ordinance program.

Work sessions will convene technical experts, as well as regional and local partners to discuss challenges encountered through the adoption of a basic ordinance and provide information on ordinance enhancements. This work session is in partnership with the Statewide Energy Codes & Standards team and features an in-depth review of the Bay Area Solar PV Ordinance Cost Effectiveness Study.

To attend the webinar, RSVP to Vijay Kesavan, Bay Area Regional Collaborative, Program Coordinator, at vkesavan@bayareametro.gov. Background

A kick-off webinar took place in September. A slide presentation and list of frequently asked questions and answers (FAQs) from this webinar are located at www.baaqmd.gov/solartoolkit. Refer to www.baaqmd.gov/solartoolkit for updates and links to useful resources.

For questions, contact Vijay Kesavan, Bay Area Regional Collaborative, Program Coordinator, at vkesavan@bayareametro.gov:

● Ask technical questions about the Solar PV Ordinance program and toolkit. We will respond to your questions in batches in a timely manner. We will also update the FAQ at regular intervals with this information so it is made available to the whole community.

● Share with us topics and ideas for bi-monthly work sessions.

● Connect us with jurisdictions who would like to be a part of this program or technical experts who would like to partner on work sessions.

The Bay Area Solar PV Ordinance program is a joint project of the Bay Area Regional Collaborative (BARC), Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD), and Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) to accelerate the implementation of solar rooftops across the Bay Area. A project goal is to help cities and counties prepare for the transition to the zero-net-energy (ZNE) requirements to be included in the next statewide energy code update in which a solar requirement is expected.
