State HCD Announces Fair Housing Survey

Housing

As part of the California Department of Housing and Community Development's effort to update the fair housing plan, the agency is conducting a Community Needs Assessment survey to establish community needs and priorities.

The survey can be found here and is available through April 1, 2024. (link is external)

All information provided via the survey will be kept confidential. Confidentiality is protected by not including names on any of the forms. Moreover, no specific identifying information will be kept or shared with other agencies.

The survey helps HCD identify the state's housing, community development and supportive service needs. Additionally, it helps determine where HCD should spend resource allocations.

The HUD Fair Housing Planning Guide(link is external) directs that a fair housing plan should:

  • Conduct an analysis to identify impediments to fair housing choice within the state or jurisdiction.
  • Take appropriate actions to overcome the effects of any impediments identified through the analysis.
  • Maintain records reflecting the analysis and actions taken.
