Technical Assistance
From the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)
Bay Area city, town and county staff will find ABAG and MTC technical assistance resources for energy, equity, housing, land use, resilience, transportation and infrastructure projects and programs. Webinars, grants, toolkits, white-papers, case studies and more to help with planning or implementation of policies and projects in their jurisdictions.
Energy
Regional-scale energy efficiency programs and services – such as the Model Solar Ordinance Toolkit, Bay Area Energy Atlas, BayREN Regional Forums and Trainings for Energy Code Compliance – that deliver assistance for local governments working on energy efficiency, water conservation and resilience.
Equity
The Association of Bay Area Governments’ Executive Board and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission both adopted the Equity Platform in January 2023. The Equity Platform is based on a commitment to meaningfully reverse disparities in access and dismantle systemic exclusion. The Technical Assistance Portal includes resources that can help local governments join us in our commitment to creating a Bay Area where everyone can thrive.
Housing
Webinar recordings, white papers, templates, toolkits and more that local government housing staff can use to assist with implementing Housing Element updates and other housing issues.
Land Use
Grants, playbooks, forums, real-world examples and more types of assistance that can help cities, towns and counties create plans that map to the Bay Area’s current and future needs.
Resilience
Wildfire Program Overview, Soft Story Model Ordinance, ART Bay Shoreline Flood Explorer, Home Quake Quiz and other tools that help local government planners and officials prepare for natural disasters and a changing climate, so the region can recover more quickly.
Transportation & Infrastructure
Vision Zero, Mobility Hubs, Parking Management, VMT Policy, Arterial System Synchronization – these programs, plus working groups, grants and more – help local government planners make a complicated transportation system work better for residents and visitors – now and in the future.
