9.    Job Mobility in the Bay Area and the Implications for Regional Economic Prosperity Strategies (2:15 pm)


Steve Levy, Director of the Center for the Continuing Study of the California Economy, and Egon Terplan, SPUR Regional Director, will present findings from the Regional Prosperity Strategies project funded by HUD.† The projectís initial goal was to identify industries and occupations of opportunity for low and moderate wage workers to move up into middle-income jobs and to develop strategies to achieve this goal. The research findings support a strong connection between the goal of upward mobility and regional policies to provide a foundation for economic prosperity
